Workday is replacing its traditional user interface with Sana, a conversational AI assistant designed to handle complex, multi-system employee tasks through natural language prompts, according to an Investing.com report.
The rollout positions conversational models as the primary navigation layer for enterprise software, moving beyond traditional click-based menus as corporate software providers compete to automate internal HR and IT workflows.
"AI is the new UI," said Joel Hellermark, chief AI officer at Workday, in a statement regarding the launch. "Users shouldn’t have to decide which agent to use, just as they shouldn’t have to click between dozens of different systems."
Rollout Schedule and Early Adoption
The initial component of the release, Sana Concierge, functions as an HR and IT service agent built to resolve routine employee requests without generating traditional support tickets.
While early adopter customers currently have access to Sana Concierge, Workday stated that the feature is expected to reach general availability in the first calendar quarter of 2027. The broader Sana interface will serve as the new Workday Home screen for the company's enterprise user base.
How the Jev Intelligence Model Generates UI
The software relies on Jev, an underlying intelligence model developed by TypeSafe AI. Unlike static dashboards, Jev generates dynamic interface elements, including interactive forms, calendars, and approval cards, in real time based on conversational inputs.
This architecture aims to reduce friction across enterprise applications by synthesizing data from multiple internal silos into a single prompt-driven window, removing the need for workers to manually navigate separate modules for payroll, benefits, and IT support.
Scale and Market Valuation
Workday's enterprise software footprint spans more than 11,500 organizations worldwide, a customer base that includes over 65% of the Fortune 500 companies.
In the public markets, Workday Inc (WDAY) stock closed at $190.81, down 2.96% from its previous close of $196.63, according to Finnhub market data as of October 16, 2026.
What the Transition Means for Enterprise Software
The deployment highlights a broader industry shift toward generative interfaces in enterprise resource planning. By embedding conversational assistants directly into core administrative software, providers are attempting to automate administrative overhead for large corporate workforces while streamlining legacy workflows.
