Cookie Policy
Last updated: September 4, 2026
A cookie is a small file a site can store in your browser to remember something between visits. This page explains what Embers actually uses, and it's deliberately short: we don't use cookies for anything you wouldn't expect.
Your cookie choice, technically
The banner you see on your first visit remembers your Accept/Decline choice in your browser's local storage, not as a cookie itself, so it works even if you have cookies disabled entirely, and declining doesn't itself set anything.
What we use
| Type | Purpose | Requires consent |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Used only for the password-protected editorial dashboard (embers_dashboard_session). Nothing on the public site sets one. Necessary for that tool to work at all. | No |
| Analytics | Google Analytics, only loaded after you accept the cookie banner. Helps us understand what content is actually working. | Yes |
| Advertising | Google AdSense, where and if enabled, used to show and measure ads. | Yes |
Controlling cookies
You can decline analytics/advertising cookies from the banner, or change your mind later by clearing this site's data in your browser (which resets the banner). Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies globally in their settings. Doing so may affect how some other sites function, though Embers itself will keep working either way, since nothing here is required to read an article.
