Johnson & Johnson reported stronger-than-expected third-quarter 2026 results and raised its full-year guidance, driven by gains across its Innovative Medicine and MedTech divisions despite heavy one-time charges. The healthcare giant topped Wall Street expectations on both the top and bottom lines as portfolio momentum accelerated.

"Johnson & Johnson's strong third-quarter performance and increased sequential growth reflect the accelerating momentum of our focused portfolio," said Joaquin Duato, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, in a statement regarding the earnings release.

Revenue and Earnings Growth Details

According to a Yahoo Finance report, Johnson & Johnson posted adjusted earnings per share of $2.59, beating the consensus estimate of $2.53 by $0.06. Total revenue reached $25.4 billion, representing a 5.9% increase from the $24.0 billion recorded in the same quarter last year.

Following the performance, Johnson & Johnson raised its full-year 2026 guidance. The company now projects adjusted EPS of $11.05 to $11.15 and full-year revenue of $101.0 billion to $101.4 billion.

Segment Performance in Pharma and MedTech

The Innovative Medicine segment anchored the quarter with sales of $16.8 billion, marking a 7.7% increase from the prior-year period. Growth in this division was led by key therapeutics including TREMFYA, DARZALEX, CARVYKTI, and TECVAYLI.

Meanwhile, the MedTech segment generated $8.6 billion in sales, up 2.5% year over year. Performance in the medical technology division was supported by steady demand for electrophysiology products and Shockwave solutions within the Cardiovascular portfolio.

Litigation and Acquisition Charges Impact Net EPS

Despite operational growth, third-quarter reported diluted EPS dropped to $0.09. According to the official earnings release, the steep compression reflects significant one-time special charges.

These charges include provisions for the proposed talc litigation resolution, accounting costs tied to the acquisition of Firefly Bio, Inc., and investments in the strategic collaboration with Sail Biomedicines.

Market Reaction and Stock Valuation

In public market trading, Johnson & Johnson stock traded at $255.56, rising 0.90% from its previous close of $253.28, according to Finnhub market data.

The updated projections and segmental expansion highlight management's confidence in absorbing restructuring and litigation expenses while maintaining core profitability across pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
