ORS Nasco is expanding its Canadian welding footprint and facility supplies portfolio by acquiring Techniweld along with three proprietary janitorial brands from Essendant, reuniting parts of the wholesale distributor's former corporate structure.
The transaction, according to an Investing.com report, covers the Canadian Techniweld and PowerWeld operations alongside the Boardwalk, GEN, and Windsoft brand lines. Essendant is a portfolio company controlled by private equity firm Sycamore Partners.
"Techniweld expands our welding offering in Canada and is the next logical step in our ever-growing commitment to welding," said Kevin Short, CEO of ORS, in a statement regarding the deal. "Boardwalk, GEN, and Windsoft add established products across janitorial and facility supplies."
Expanding Welding and Facility Supplies
Under the terms of the agreement, ORS takes over Techniweld, a Canadian wholesale provider of welding equipment and accessories serving independent distributors with gas and arc welding products, filler metals, and safety gear. In the U.S. market, the business operates under the PowerWeld brand name.
In addition to welding supplies, the acquisition transfers three established proprietary brands to ORS:
- Boardwalk: A widely distributed line of facility and janitorial maintenance products.
- GEN: A specialized cleaning and paper product brand.
- Windsoft: A commercial towel and tissue brand.
Strategic M&A History and Corporate Roots
The transaction deepens an active multi-year acquisition streak for ORS under its current ownership. The deal follows ORS's 2026 purchase of Alliance Distribution and its 2025 acquisition of Techniweld USA according to the Investing.com report.
The agreement also carries historical relevance for both entities. ORS was previously owned by Essendant before being carved out as an independent entity in 2019. The latest transaction reconnects portions of that former corporate structure while marking another strategic carve-out for ORS and its backer, private equity firm Wynnchurch Capital, L.P.
