Wells Fargo increased its price target for Pyxis Oncology (PYXS) from $12.00 to $19.00 while maintaining an Overweight rating. This revision follows clinical data for the company's MICVO treatment. The change reflects analyst confidence in the drug's performance in head and neck cancer treatment.
"The safety profile is acceptable and creates a favorable benefit-risk profile," said Derek Archila, an analyst at Wells Fargo, in a recent report.
Clinical Performance of MICVO
Optimism follows results involving patients with recurrent or metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. Clinical data shows MICVO demonstrated a 36% complete objective response rate and a median progression-free survival of 6.2 months. These metrics indicate the drug's efficacy in this oncology segment.
Strategic Timeline Adjustments
Clinical results for MICVO influenced analyst sentiment, but the company’s development roadmap includes timing shifts. Pyxis Oncology delayed its Phase 1/2 study evaluating the combination of MICVO and KEYTRUDA. The trial is now expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
What Is at Stake
The adjustment by Wells Fargo shows the weight of early-stage clinical readouts for biotechnology valuations. As Pyxis Oncology works toward its combination studies, the company must manage the positive early response data alongside the extended timeline for its next clinical milestone. The move to $19.00 indicates that analysts view the current benefit-risk profile as a driver for the stock’s potential, assuming the safety and efficacy data remain consistent in larger trials.
