Wells Fargo and BofA Securities have lifted their price targets for Signet Jewelers (NYSE: SIG) following a second-quarter earnings beat and the long-term renewal of a consumer-credit partnership. These adjustments follow the retailer's decision to raise its full-year earnings guidance, reflecting confidence in its operational performance.
Signet reported fiscal second-quarter adjusted earnings of $2.19 per share, surpassing the consensus estimate of $1.73. Following these results, the company revised its full-year earnings per share guidance to a range of $10.45 to $12.15, which is higher than the previous forecast of $9.20 to $11.00.
Analyst Sentiment and Price Target Adjustments
Both firms hold cautious ratings on the stock. Wells Fargo increased its price target for Signet from $90 to $100 while maintaining an Equal Weight rating. BofA Securities raised its target to $115 from $102 while maintaining a Neutral rating.
The Bread Financial Credit Partnership
A primary driver for the improved outlook is the renewal of Signet’s consumer-credit partnership with Bread Financial. The agreement extends through 2035 and is projected to deliver over $1 billion in value to the retailer over the life of the deal.
Consumer credit programs are central to the jewelry retail sector, as they allow customers to finance high-ticket purchases over time. By securing this long-term arrangement, Signet stabilizes its financing options for customers, mitigating risks associated with interest rate volatility and potential shifts in consumer lending standards.
What Is at Stake for Investors
The upward revision of full-year guidance suggests that management expects sustained demand despite economic pressures on discretionary spending. For investors, the focus remains on whether Signet can maintain its margins while navigating the integration of the long-term credit agreement. The divergence in analyst price targets reflects differing views on the speed of the company's growth relative to its current market valuation.
