Consensys Software, Inc., an entity led by SharpLink Gaming director Joseph Lubin, has divested its entire 5.67 million share stake in the company through a block trade. The transaction, executed on October 8, 2026, represents a shift in the equity holdings of a member of the company's board.

According to an SEC Form 4 filing, Consensys Software sold 5,676,952 shares of SharpLink (SBET) common stock at a price of $8.39 per share. The total value of the divestment reached approximately $47.6 million. Despite the total exit by the entity, Joseph Lubin maintains a personal interest in the company, retaining direct ownership of 5,154,213 shares of SharpLink common stock.

Financial Context and Market Performance

This divestment occurs as SharpLink Gaming manages a period of revenue growth paired with bottom-line losses. In the company's most recent quarterly report, SharpLink posted revenue of $11.5 million, an increase from the $0.7 million reported in the same period of the prior year. The company continues to face profitability challenges, recording a net loss of $394.3 million and an adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of negative $1.88.

As of October 19, 2026, SharpLink Gaming (SBET) shares were trading at $7.46. The sale price of $8.39 per share during the October 8 transaction represents a premium to the company's recent market valuation.

Understanding Block Trades

A block trade, such as the one executed by Consensys Software, is a privately negotiated transaction involving a large number of securities. These trades are managed outside of the open market to avoid price volatility that might occur if such a large volume of shares were sold through standard exchange orders. By utilizing a block trade, the selling entity can exit its position at a predetermined price, providing liquidity without immediately impacting the stock's market-wide trading price.
