Interactive Brokers has launched cryptocurrency staking for eligible clients starting with Ethereum, expanding its digital asset services through a partnership with infrastructure provider Zero Hash.

"Similar to how our Stock Yield Enhancement Program allows clients to earn additional income on shares they own, staking gives clients an opportunity to earn rewards on the cryptocurrency they own," said Milan Galik, Chief Executive Officer of Interactive Brokers, in a statement regarding the rollout.

How Staking Works in the Client Portal

At launch, eligible Interactive Brokers LLC clients can manage and initiate staking directly through a dedicated Staking Dashboard located within the company's Client Portal.

Under the platform's mechanism, rewards earned from participating in network validation are credited directly as additional staked cryptocurrency. These rewards compound automatically for as long as the underlying position remains staked on the platform.

Market Context and IBKR Stock Performance

Interactive Brokers Group Inc shares traded at $82.69, down 3.88% from their previous close of $86.03, as of market data recorded on October 16, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. UTC.

The integration builds on the brokerage's existing income-generation offerings, drawing parallels to its Stock Yield Enhancement Program, which permits clients to lend out fully paid shares in exchange for collateral and interest.

What Crypto Staking Means for Traditional Brokers

As major online brokerages expand deeper into digital assets, integrating native blockchain yield mechanisms allows traditional financial institutions to bridge equity and cryptocurrency accounts under a single reporting umbrella. By utilizing regulated infrastructure partners like Zero Hash, brokerages can offer network-level rewards without building proprietary staking nodes, bringing institutional custody standards to retail crypto holders.
