President Trump has appointed Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton to lead the newly formed “Super Intelligence Force.” This task force is charged with drafting a federal policy framework for artificial intelligence within 120 days. The initiative aims to align government oversight with the development of advanced AI capabilities.

"The Super Intelligence Force will coordinate the Federal Government's engagement with Consumers, Public Interest Groups, Religious Organizations, Critical Infrastructure Providers, and Super Intelligence Companies," stated President Trump.

Task Force Structure and Mandate

The task force must deliver a report on the risks and opportunities presented by AI to President Trump and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. The directive mandates that the group define the federal government's specific role in AI oversight, balancing innovation with security concerns.

In addition to Clayton, the task force includes:

  • FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson
  • Pentagon CTO Emil Michael
  • OPM Director Scott Kupor

This composition indicates a focus on antitrust scrutiny, defense-related technological integration, and administrative personnel policy as the government navigates the adoption of large-scale AI models.

Strategic Urgency and AI Leadership

The formation of the task force highlights the administration's focus on maintaining domestic dominance in the global AI market. Clayton, who will lead the effort, emphasized the competitive nature of the sector and the consequences of falling behind international peers.

"The risk of not being first is high," said Jay Clayton regarding the administration's push to maintain U.S. leadership in AI.

Market Context

The announcement comes as the technology sector assesses the impact of federal policy on AI-focused companies. As of October 12, 2026, Trump Media & Technology Group Corp (DJT) was trading at $7.99, a decline of 1.48% from the previous session.
