Defense technology startup Firehawk Aerospace is in discussions for a private funding round aiming to raise between $100 million and $200 million at a $1.25 billion valuation, according to a Bloomberg report. The capital raise reflects investor interest in defense-tech infrastructure amid shifting geopolitical priorities and increased demand for advanced propulsion systems.

Rochefort Asset Management is leading the financing round, with venture firm 1789 Capital expected to participate, according to the report. Terms of the ongoing negotiations remain private and could shift before the round closes.

3D-Printed Propellant Technology

Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Firehawk develops rocket motors utilizing a proprietary 3D-printed propellant technology. The company currently operates seven different facilities across its manufacturing and testing footprint.

The firm's additive manufacturing approach targets lower production costs for solid rocket motors and improved supply chain scalability compared to traditional manufacturing methods. This manufacturing technique allows for rapid iteration and customized geometric designs for tactical missiles and launch vehicles.

Defense-Tech Venture Funding

This capital push underscores an increase in venture capital backing for defense technology startups, as institutional investors allocate capital to hardware-heavy sectors. Traditional Silicon Valley venture firms, alongside specialized funds like 1789 Capital, have increasingly targeted aerospace and defense infrastructure following supply chain disruptions and heightened demand from allied militaries.

The proposed $1.25 billion valuation places Firehawk among a select group of venture-backed defense suppliers scaling up to compete with established aerospace primes. As the company finalizes the round, the fresh capital is expected to support expanded production capacity across its seven operating sites and accelerate commercial delivery schedules.
