Chewy reported second-quarter adjusted earnings of $0.36 per share matching Wall Street consensus estimates, alongside a revenue increase that pushed full-year guidance higher amid expanding margins and steady customer growth.
"Chewy delivered a strong second quarter, with growth of 7.3% to $3.33 billion of net sales at the high end of our guidance, and a 6.8% Adj. EBITDA margin, exceeding our expectations," said Sumit Singh, Chief Executive Officer, in a Yahoo Finance report.
Second-Quarter Financial Performance
Net sales of $3.33 billion rose 7.3% compared to the same period in the prior year. When excluding contributions from recent acquisitions such as SmartPak and Modern Animal, organic net sales increased by 5.7%.
Adjusted EBITDA reached $226.7 million, marking an increase of $43.4 million year-over-year. Concurrently, the adjusted EBITDA margin expanded by 90 basis points to reach 6.8% of net sales.
Autoship Growth and Customer Metrics
Active customer counts rose 3.8% year-over-year, bringing Chewy's total active customer base to 21.7 million. A primary driver of this top-line performance remains the company's subscription-based Autoship program.
Autoship customer sales increased 9.3% to $2.82 billion. This recurring revenue stream now accounts for 84.6% of total net sales, providing predictable cash flows that underpin the retailer's financial stability.
"The durability of our recurring revenue base, continued customer growth, and disciplined execution give us confidence to raise our full-year revenue and profitability outlook," said Sumit Singh, Chief Executive Officer, in the report.
Updated Fiscal Guidance
Reflecting these second-quarter results and operational momentum, Chewy raised its outlook for fiscal year 2027. The company now expects total revenue to land between $13.46 billion and $13.57 billion.
The midpoint of this updated guidance range sits at $13.515 billion, which compares favorably to prior analyst consensus expectations of $13.48 billion.
