Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) shares rose about 2% in premarket trading on Thursday following Google's rollout of its newest artificial intelligence model, Gemini 4 Argon. The release highlights pricing structures within the artificial intelligence sector and targets specialized tasks in coding and cybersecurity.
Alphabet Inc. closed at $347.68, up 0.35% from its previous close of $346.47, according to Finnhub market data.
Rollout Stages and Availability
Google is deploying Gemini 4 Argon through phased availability tiers. The model will initially roll out in a restricted capacity to a group of trusted cybersecurity researchers and internal teams without some of its standard guardrails.
Paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers will gain access to the model in subsequent deployment phases. This staged approach allows developers to evaluate advanced capabilities while managing system security before broader public availability.
Competitive Pricing Analysis
According to an Investing.com report, Jefferies analysts noted that Gemini 4 Argon's launch pricing is set at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. This cost structure undercuts several major competitors in the conversational artificial intelligence market.
By comparison, Anthropic's Claude Fable 5.1 is priced at $10 for input tokens and $50 for output tokens, while Claude Opus 5.5 is priced at $4 for input and $20 for output. Additionally, the Gemini 4 Argon pricing model includes a 95% discount on cached input tokens, presenting cost reductions for developers processing repeated or large datasets.
