Wells Fargo has raised its price target for Marvell Technology (MRVL) to $365 from $310, citing sustained growth in the company's custom silicon and connectivity portfolios. The firm maintained its Overweight rating on the stock, reflecting its outlook on the chipmaker's infrastructure roadmap.
Strategic Growth Drivers
Marvell's competitive positioning relies on a suite of high-speed data infrastructure technologies. The company’s portfolio includes:
- Optical and Connectivity: PAM, coherent and coherent-lite pluggables, and Active Electrical Cables (AECs).
- Switching and Packaging: Switch ASICs, Near-Packaged Optics (NPO), and Co-Packaged Optics (CPO).
- Protocol Support: Integration across Ethernet, ESUN, UALink, and NVLink Fusion architectures.
These technologies address the demand for high-bandwidth, low-latency data movement in artificial intelligence and cloud data centers. By embedding its hardware across these protocols, Marvell aims to capture a larger share of the infrastructure required to support computing clusters.
Financial Outlook and Revenue Targets
The company has provided long-range financial targets that detail its growth expectations. During a recent investor day presentation, Marvell raised its fiscal 2028 revenue outlook to $20 billion. The company has issued earnings per share (EPS) guidance exceeding $30 for calendar year 2030 and fiscal year 2031.
What Is at Stake for Infrastructure Providers
The analyst adjustment highlights the focus on the hardware components of the AI supply chain. As cloud service providers and enterprise data centers scale their compute capacity, the demand for specialized connectivity and custom silicon has become a driver of valuation for semiconductor firms. Wells Fargo's upward revision suggests that analysts view Marvell's product pipeline as aligned with long-term capital expenditure cycles in the data center market.
