Wells Fargo raised its full-year 2026 loan growth outlook above prior guidance, pointing to resilient consumer spending and stable credit trends across the U.S. economy.
The revised forecast arrived during a presentation at the Barclays Global Financial Services Conference, where executive leadership outlined steady credit performance and steady demand across retail and commercial lending portfolios.
"Debt-to-income levels are quite good overall," said Mike Santomassimo, Chief Financial Officer, Wells Fargo, at the Barclays Global Financial Services Conference, adding that the economy is expanding and the bank is not seeing any deterioration in delinquency trends.
Financial Guidance and Net Interest Margins
Alongside the loan growth projection, the bank maintained several key financial guideposts for the fiscal year. Wells Fargo kept its full-year net interest income forecast at roughly $50.0 billion, with operating expenses expected to track at about $55.7 billion.
Executives also indicated that the third-quarter net interest margin would likely outperform initial expectations. This margin performance reflects asset yields adjusting against a backdrop of stabilizing benchmark interest rates and disciplined funding costs.
Investment Banking and Markets Revenue
Beyond traditional lending, Wells Fargo anticipates growth across non-interest revenue streams. The bank projects that investment banking fees, markets revenue, and trading operations will expand by mid-single digits in the third quarter.
These projections signal a stable deal-making environment and consistent client activity in capital markets, differing from more volatile quarters in prior reporting cycles.
Market Valuation and Share Performance
In public trading as of September 18, 2026, at 2:01 PM UTC, Wells Fargo & Co (NYSE: WFC) quoted at $86.39, down 0.58% from its previous close of $86.89, according to Finnhub market data.
The bank's market valuation moves as Wall Street weighs these reaffirmed revenue guardrails and upgraded loan growth metrics against broader macroeconomic indicators.
