UBS upgraded EchoStar Corporation (NASDAQ:ECHO) from Neutral to Buy and raised its price target to $150.00 from $127.00, driven by the company's $43 billion spectrum sale and an expected 2% equity stake in SpaceX, according to a report on Investing.com.

"The expected 2% stake in SpaceX represents approximately $39 billion in value, or $110 per EchoStar share, at the current SpaceX stock price," said John Hodulik, analyst, UBS, in a note to clients.

Asset Restructuring and Spectrum Sale

The asset valuation shift follows EchoStar's agreement to sell 75% to 80% of its spectrum portfolio for approximately $43 billion. This transaction effectively transforms the telecommunications firm from an active wireless operator into a holding and investment company.

EchoStar is scheduled to receive the 2% equity stake in SpaceX once the pending spectrum transaction officially closes, which is expected in November 2027. Federal Communications Commission approval for the underlying transaction has already been granted, removing a major regulatory hurdle for the multi-billion-dollar deal.

Financial Context and Market Valuation

UBS Group AG shares traded at $55.38, down 0.54% from their previous close of $55.68, according to Finnhub market data as of September 4, 2026, at 8:00 PM UTC. The bank's reassessment of EchoStar highlights how private space and satellite infrastructure assets are driving public equity valuations through direct corporate cross-holdings.

What the Upgrade Means for Shareholders

For public market investors, the transaction repositions EchoStar stock away from traditional capital-intensive wireless network deployment and toward private aerospace equity exposure. By anchoring a significant portion of its post-sale corporate value to SpaceX's private market valuation, EchoStar offers public shareholders indirect access to space launch and satellite internet infrastructure.
