Tap Global has appointed Moorwand Ltd as the issuer and Bank Identification Number (BIN) sponsor for a new multi-currency Mastercard. This arrangement allows users to spend directly from non-euro currency balances held within the company's application.
The partnership addresses a point of friction for users who previously had to convert funds from a euro-denominated balance at the point of sale. By enabling direct spending, the firm intends to improve the user experience for its international customer base.
"A multi-currency card has been the feature requested most often by our customers, and this programme delivers it," said Arsen Torosian, Group CEO and Co-Founder of Tap Global, in a statement regarding the launch.
Expanding Existing Infrastructure
Moorwand, an FCA-authorised Electronic Money Institution and a principal member of Mastercard, has worked with Tap Global since October 2025. The two firms first collaborated on e-money account services, and this new arrangement expands that existing infrastructure.
"Moorwand has been an excellent partner to build with," said Luc Gueriane, Chief Executive Officer of Moorwand, describing the role of card issuer as "the natural next step" in the companies' ongoing cooperation.
Strategic Limitations and Market Reach
While the partnership aims to enhance the utility of the Tap app, the company clarified that the rollout of these payment capabilities is not global. The availability of the new card programme remains subject to local licensing requirements and specific card-scheme conditions in each target market.
By securing Moorwand as a BIN sponsor, Tap Global gains the regulatory and technical framework necessary to issue its own branded cards. This is a standard industry process for fintech firms looking to bypass the need for traditional bank partnerships for every individual card issuance. This shift allows the company to exert more control over the card lifecycle and the user experience during international transactions.
