Stardust Power is advancing its planned lithium refinery in Muskogee, Oklahoma, after securing a supply agreement for long-lead electrical infrastructure with Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company. The development marks a key operational step for the refining facility as it prepares for future engineering, procurement, and construction phases.
"As we continue preparing the Muskogee site for future EPC activities, securing critical electrical infrastructure remains an important component of our overall strategy," said a Stardust Power representative in a statement regarding the agreement.
Muskogee Site Preparation and Power Requirements
Refining battery-grade lithium carbonate requires substantial, continuous electrical power to support chemical conversion processes, heating, and material handling systems. By locking in long-lead electrical equipment early, industrial developers attempt to mitigate supply chain bottlenecks that frequently delay large-scale energy projects.
The Muskogee facility is designed to process lithium extracted from domestic brine sources, positioning itself within the North American electric vehicle supply chain. Securing utility connections and transformer equipment ensures the site can transition once main construction contracts are awarded.
Market Activity and Share Price Performance
Following the infrastructure announcement, shares of Stardust Power Inc (SDST) traded at $0.25, marking an increase of 57.64% compared to the previous close of $0.16, according to Finnhub market data as of September 17, 2026, at 8:00 PM UTC.
What Is at Stake for Domestic Lithium Refining
The push to establish domestic lithium processing facilities relies on early-stage utility coordination and local infrastructure buildout. As North American producers attempt to scale output to meet projected demand from the battery and automotive sectors, securing reliable power distribution remains a foundational requirement for moving projects from initial site preparation to active commercial production.
