S&P Global has deepened its alliance with digital asset data provider Kaiko by leading a Series B-2 extension investment through S&P Global Ventures. The move reflects an institutional push to integrate traditional financial benchmarks with on-chain market data.

"As digital assets accelerate S&P Global is investing for the future, and this investment underscores that conviction," said Cathy Clay, CEO, S&P Dow Jones Indices.

Strategic Partnership Milestones

This investment builds on an existing multi-year collaboration between the two firms. The partnership has yielded infrastructure developments, including the March 2026 tokenization of the iBoxx U.S. Treasuries Index and the launch of the co-branded S&P Kaiko Digital Asset Indices in September 2026.

"This investment from S&P Global is an endorsement of Kaiko's mission and the role trusted data and data infrastructure will play in tokenized markets," said Ambre Soubiran, CEO, Kaiko.

Understanding Series B Extensions

A Series B-2 extension is a financing mechanism that allows a company to raise additional capital by leveraging the terms established during an earlier Series B round. By utilizing this structure, companies can secure liquidity without the administrative complexity or valuation resets associated with initiating a full Series C funding round. For investors like S&P Global, the extension provides a path to increase exposure to a portfolio company while maintaining existing governance and equity frameworks.

Institutional Integration of Digital Assets

The cooperation between S&P Global and Kaiko highlights the industry trend of bringing data standards to the digital asset space. As tokenized financial instruments gain traction, the requirement for reliable, transparent, and auditable pricing data has become a focus for traditional market participants. By embedding Kaiko’s data infrastructure into its existing index products, S&P Global is positioning itself to capture the migration of traditional financial assets onto blockchain networks.
