Rocket Lab has secured its largest commercial contract to date. This 20-mission agreement with Tokyo-based Earth observation firm Synspective pushes the launch provider’s total backlog beyond 100 missions. The multi-year deal covers dedicated Electron launches scheduled annually from 2028 through 2031. It continues a partnership that has seen the two companies collaborate since the early stages of the StriX satellite constellation.

This latest agreement brings the total number of Electron missions contracted for Synspective to 47. This solidifies the firm as Rocket Lab's largest launch customer by mission count. The deal reflects a trend of satellite constellation operators seeking long-term launch certainty to maintain deployment schedules.

"When constellation builders want control over their destiny, they come to Rocket Lab. Synspective was one of Electron’s earliest customers and together we have proven that tailored, dedicated launch is the fastest and most reliable path to scaling small satellite constellations," said Sir Peter Beck, Rocket Lab founder and CEO, in a statement.

Scaling the StriX Constellation

Synspective’s StriX constellation utilizes synthetic aperture radar (SAR) to capture high-resolution imagery of the Earth, regardless of weather conditions or time of day. By securing a multi-year launch pipeline, the company aims to reduce the operational risks associated with satellite deployment.

"Electron's precision and reliability have played a central role in steadily scaling our StriX constellation. Securing another 20 dedicated launches now gives us long-term certainty for our constellation expansion, which is a significant factor in building the infrastructure needed for a resilient future," said Dr. Motoyuki Arai, Synspective founder and CEO.

Market Performance and Financial Context

The contract announcement follows Rocket Lab's efforts to increase its launch cadence. As of October 6, 2026, Rocket Lab (RKLB) stock was trading at $75.93, reflecting a 3.99% increase on the day.

For Rocket Lab, securing large-volume, multi-year commitments from established customers like Synspective signals the company's transition from an experimental launch provider to a reliable infrastructure partner for commercial space entities. The expansion of its backlog to over 100 missions provides the company with visibility into its future launch manifest through the end of the decade.
