Richelieu Hardware shares rose 12% after the company reported fiscal 2026 third-quarter financial results that exceeded analyst expectations for revenue and earnings. This performance followed organic growth, e-commerce sales, and the integration of the company's largest acquisition to date.

"Our third quarter was marked by strong growth and strategic expansion, once again demonstrating the strength of our business model and our ability to capitalize on new opportunities," said Richard Lord, Chief Executive, Richelieu Hardware, during the company's earnings call.

Financial Results and Margin Performance

For the third quarter, Richelieu Hardware reported diluted earnings per share of CAD 0.53 on total revenue of CAD 562 million. These figures exceeded Wall Street forecasts, which anticipated earnings of CAD 0.48 per share and revenue of CAD 532.8 million.

Profitability metrics improved due to operational efficiency and a regulatory recovery. According to Benzinga coverage, the third-quarter EBITDA margin reached 11.7%, a figure that included a CAD 3 million U.S. tariff refund. Excluding this one-time item, the underlying EBITDA margin was 11.1%.

Expanding Footprint Through the Penrod Acquisition

A driver of the company's recent expansion is the integration of the Penrod Company's hardware division. As the largest acquisition in Richelieu's history, the transaction added seven distribution centers to the company's supply chain network.

This distribution footprint expansion contributes approximately CAD 60 million in annualized sales. The deal increases Richelieu's operational reach across regional markets and allows the company to capture additional market share in specialized hardware and building products distribution.

Digital Platform Contributions

Executive leadership highlighted the role of proprietary digital infrastructure in sustaining sales momentum. Investments in e-commerce functionality continue to convert professional and retail customer traffic into recurring revenue.

"Our website is second to none. It is contributing largely to our sales increase as well," said Richard Lord, Chief Executive, Richelieu Hardware.

What Is at Stake for Specialty Distributors

Richelieu's performance shows how specialty distributors navigate macroeconomic uncertainty through a strategy of targeted M&A and digital channel optimization. By pairing physical supply chain density with expanding e-commerce capabilities, the company aims to protect operating margins against supply cost fluctuations while scaling transaction volumes across North America.
