RBC Capital initiated coverage on Allegro MicroSystems Inc. (NASDAQ: ALGM) with an outperform rating and a $50.00 price target, pointing to market leadership in magnetic sensing as a catalyst following a sharp valuation pullback.
Leadership in Magnetic Sensing ICs
According to the RBC Capital report, Allegro MicroSystems stands as the established industry leader in magnetic position and current sensing integrated circuits. The firm also highlighted the company's expanding footprint in power ICs, which addresses broader analog semiconductor demand.
Stock Performance and Recent Pullback
The coverage initiation arrives as the semiconductor equity trades well below historical highs. Data from the analysis shows the stock has declined approximately 38% from its recent peak, trading at $36.38 compared to a 52-week high of $71.77. Despite this contraction from peak levels, the shares remain up nearly 38% on a year-to-date basis.
Multi-Year Growth Projections
RBC Capital forecasts that secular content expansion within the automotive sector, combined with emerging data center growth, will drive financial performance. The firm projects approximately 20% revenue growth paired with roughly 200 basis points of gross margin expansion over the next two years.
What Content Expansion Means for Analog Semis
Content expansion refers to the rising dollar value of semiconductor components utilized within a single end-product, such as an electric vehicle or server rack, even when unit production volumes remain flat. As automakers integrate more advanced driver-assistance systems, traction inverters, and battery management electronics, suppliers like Allegro capture higher revenue per vehicle, providing a structural tailwind independent of broader consumer vehicle purchasing trends.
