Raymond James downgraded Phreesia Inc. (NYSE:PHR) to Market Perform from Outperform following the healthcare software provider's second-quarter fiscal 2027 earnings results, citing decelerating organic revenue growth and rising expenditures on artificial intelligence initiatives.

Organic Revenue Projections and Growth Pressures

According to an Investing.com report, the brokerage firm estimates that Phreesia's organic revenue growth reached 3.5% year-over-year during the first half of the fiscal year. Looking ahead, analysts project that organic growth will contract to negative 0.5% in the second half.

The deceleration stems in part from heightened capital allocation toward emerging AI tools designed for patient intake and administrative workflows. While these technologies aim to secure long-term positioning in healthcare IT markets, analysts noted they introduce near-term margin pressures that weigh on core financial expansion.

Second-Quarter Financial Results Breakdown

Despite the growth concerns highlighted in the downgrade, Phreesia's actual quarterly figures topped Wall Street expectations across key metrics.

  • Revenue: Reported at $129.5 million, narrowly beating the consensus estimate of $129.1 million.
  • Adjusted EBITDA: Reached $32.9 million, exceeding the consensus forecast of $30.7 million.

Raymond James Financial Market Position

The rating change coincides with routine market activity for the evaluating institution. Raymond James Financial Inc. (RJF) traded at $178.29, declining 1.55% as of market data recorded on September 4, 2026.

What Lies Ahead for Healthcare IT Valuations

The revision underscores a broader investor scrutiny facing digital health platforms as they balance immediate profitability against heavy infrastructure outlays. As healthcare providers demand more sophisticated automation, software developers must navigate the dual challenge of funding expensive technological upgrades while sustaining historical revenue momentum.
