Profound Medical shares climbed nearly 20% in after-hours trading after the company issued preliminary third-quarter 2026 revenue guidance that outperformed analyst expectations. The medical technology firm now anticipates revenue between $9.8 million and $10.0 million for the period, which differs from market projections.
"The significant increase in revenue we expect to report this quarter represents a historic milestone for Profound, reflecting the strong commercial momentum building behind our technology," said Arun Menawat, Profound's CEO and Chairman.
Guidance Versus Market Consensus
The company's updated revenue outlook sits above the Bloomberg analyst consensus of $6.78 million, representing a beat of 45% to 47%. This revision signals an acceleration in the adoption of Profound's medical device portfolio.
Compared to prior periods, the projected figures indicate growth trajectories:
- Year-over-year: The revenue guidance represents an 85% to 89% increase compared to the $5.3 million reported in the third quarter of 2025.
- Sequential growth: The figures suggest a 292% to 300% increase over the $2.5 million reported in the second quarter of 2026.
The company expects its gross margin to exceed 70% for the third quarter of 2026, a metric monitored by investors to gauge the scalability of medical device manufacturing and sales.
What Is at Stake
The update provides an early look at the company’s commercial health ahead of its formal earnings release. Profound Medical plans to report its full third-quarter 2026 financial results after market close on November 5th. Stakeholders are focused on whether this surge in revenue signals a sustainable trend in the firm's core clinical markets or a temporary spike in device utilization.
