Pinterest has named Amazon finance veteran James Dibbo as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective October 26, 2026. Dibbo succeeds outgoing CFO Julia Brau Donnelly, who will remain with the company in an advisory role through October 30 to facilitate the transition.

Dibbo joins the social media platform after a long tenure at Amazon. He most recently served as Vice President and CFO of Global Entertainment, Advertising, and Corporate Development. In that capacity, he oversaw the financial operations for Amazon Ads, Prime Video, and Twitch, which prepares him to lead Pinterest’s efforts to scale its advertising and shopping infrastructure.

"James has led complex global businesses at scale, helped build high-performing teams and understands the intersection of consumer experience, shopping, advertising and technology," said Bill Ready, CEO of Pinterest, in a statement regarding the appointment.

Strategic Focus on Monetization

Pinterest has prioritized the integration of shopping features and high-intent advertising to diversify its revenue beyond traditional display ads. Dibbo’s background in managing the financial architecture of Amazon’s advertising ecosystem suggests a pivot toward optimizing Pinterest’s ad-tech stack.

By hiring an executive with experience in the intersection of e-commerce and media consumption, Pinterest aims to tighten the link between user discovery and merchant conversion. This transition follows a period where the company has sought to improve its margins by leveraging AI-driven personalization to increase engagement and ad relevance.

Financial Context and Market Position

The leadership change occurs as the company competes for digital advertising dollars. As of October 9, 2026, shares of Pinterest (PINS) are trading at $21.40.

Investors are expected to monitor how Dibbo’s experience with Amazon’s diversified business units influences Pinterest’s capital allocation and monetization strategy. The shift from Donnelly to Dibbo changes the C-suite as the company attempts to capture a larger share of the social commerce market.
