New Jersey Resources has raised its quarterly dividend to $0.50 per share, marking the company's 31st consecutive year of annual payout hikes and maintaining an uninterrupted dividend record dating back to 1952. The increase moves the quarterly payout up from $0.475 per share, reflecting steady financial performance across the utility's regulated and clean energy operations.
"This dividend increase reflects the Board’s confidence in NJR’s financial strength and long-term growth prospects. We are proud to raise our dividend for the 31st consecutive year and continue delivering value to shareowners," said Steve Westhoven, President and CEO, New Jersey Resources, in a statement regarding the increase.
Effective Dates and Payout Schedule
The board of directors of New Jersey Resources Corporation unanimously approved the higher distribution rate. The increased $0.50 per share dividend becomes effective with the payout scheduled for October 1, 2026.
To qualify for the upcoming distribution, shareowners must be on the company's register as of the record date on September 24, 2026. Prior to this adjustment, shareholders received $0.475 per share on a quarterly basis.
Market Valuation and Share Performance
The dividend announcement accompanies steady trading activity for the corporation's equity. New Jersey Resources Corp (NYSE: NJR) stock closed at $53.16 on September 11, 2026.
Publicly traded utilities frequently rely on long-term dividend growth tracks to attract income-focused portfolios. NJR's continuous payout history since its inception in 1952 places the company among a select group of energy firms that have maintained distributions across multiple macroeconomic cycles.
Multi-Decade Streak Significance
A 31-year streak of annual dividend increases places New Jersey Resources among established dividend achievers in the utility sector. Sustaining consecutive increases requires steady cash flow generation from core operations, including natural gas distribution and clean energy investments, even as infrastructure capital expenditures fluctuate.
