Niki BioSolutions has engaged Fios Genomics to provide bioinformatics and statistical support for its Alzheimer’s disease testing pipeline. The company intends to use this partnership to accelerate biomarker development. The collaboration focuses on the subsidiary DiamiR Biosciences Corp., which aims to refine its diagnostic research through data processing.

"The datasets generated in this project are large and complex, and getting the analysis right is critical to the decisions we make next," said Alidad Mireskandari, President and Chief Operating Officer of Niki BioSolutions, in a statement regarding the partnership.

Scope of the Bioinformatics Collaboration

Under the new agreement, Fios Genomics will deliver analytical services. This process includes:

  • Data Quality Assessment: Evaluating raw biological data to ensure reliability before interpretation.
  • Statistical Analysis: Applying computational models to identify patterns within datasets.
  • Interpretation: Translating processed data into biological insights.

Strategic Objectives for Alzheimer’s Research

The goal of this engagement is to inform target and biomarker prioritization. By using the analytical framework provided by Fios Genomics, Niki BioSolutions intends to improve the design of upcoming validation studies. This step helps confirm the clinical utility of biomarkers before they move into larger testing environments.

Why This Matters for Diagnostic Development

In neurodegenerative disease diagnostics, isolating reliable biomarkers from high-dimensional datasets presents a hurdle. Diagnostic candidates often fail during the validation phase when initial data interpretation lacks the statistical power to distinguish biological signals from noise.

By outsourcing this analysis to a bioinformatics provider, Niki BioSolutions is attempting to mitigate the risk of proceeding with flawed study designs. The partnership allows the firm to focus its internal resources on clinical development while using external expertise to navigate the technical requirements of its diagnostic testing pipeline.
