Myriad Genetics and SOPHiA GENETICS are partnering with AstraZeneca to advance prostate cancer genomic instability score technology and develop decentralized companion diagnostics for precision oncology.
The tripartite collaboration aims to expand access to advanced biomarker testing, supporting new indications for prostate cancer while building on existing genetic testing frameworks.
"This collaboration showcases Myriad's biopharma capabilities to support development of precision oncology treatments," said Lou Welebob, Senior Vice President, Companion Diagnostics, Myriad Genetics, in a statement regarding the partnership.
Expanding Genomic Instability Scoring
Under the agreement, Myriad's proprietary MyChoice CDx test will produce the prostate genomic instability score, known as PrGIS. While the test is currently established as a companion diagnostic in ovarian cancer, the new collaboration advances the technology toward a specific prostate cancer indication.
Simultaneously, SOPHiA GENETICS is adapting its solid tumor application for the Extended Homologous Recombination Solution into a decentralized companion diagnostic solution. This architecture incorporates Myriad's PrGIS technology to process genomic data across local testing facilities.
"Precision medicine has a geographic problem because breakthrough therapies developed in major markets often remain inaccessible to patients in the rest of the world," said Jess Lambe, VP & Managing Director of BioPharma Business Development, SOPHiA GENETICS.
Upcoming Clinical Data and Market Context
Clinical validation for the initiative is slated for public presentation at the European Society for Medical Oncology Congress 2026, where Myriad plans to share research co-authored with AstraZeneca.
In the public markets, Myriad Genetics Inc (NASDAQ: MYGN) closed at $4.08 on October 13, 2026, marking a 2.86% decline from its previous close of $4.20, according to Finnhub market data.
Decentralized Diagnostics in Oncology
The collaboration addresses logistical hurdles in precision medicine by enabling local laboratories to run complex genomic tests without shipping tissue samples to central facilities. By decentralizing companion diagnostics through SOPHiA's platform and utilizing Myriad's scoring technology, the companies seek to broaden clinical trial access and commercial adoption for targeted oncology treatments.
