JPMorgan lowered its price target on Pearson PLC to GBP 13.60 from GBP 14.20 while maintaining a Neutral rating, citing foreign exchange headwinds, difficult market conditions for its Pearson Test of English (PTE) division, and tough year-over-year comparisons in English Language Learning (ELS).

The adjustment by JPMorgan follows a broader reassessment of the educational publishing giant's near-term growth trajectory. Alongside the target reduction, the bank trimmed its fiscal year group organic growth forecast for the company to 4.6% from 5.0% and reduced its earnings before interest, tax, and amortization (EBITA) estimate by 1% to GBP 655 million.

"JPMorgan lowered its price target on Pearson PLC shares to GBP 13.60 from GBP 14.20 while maintaining a Neutral stock rating," according to an Investing.com report.

Goldman Sachs Concurrently Downgrades Pearson

JPMorgan is joined by another major institution adjusting its outlook on the London-listed publisher. Goldman Sachs concurrently downgraded Pearson's stock rating from Buy to Neutral, establishing a price target of GBP 13.75.

These synchronized moves by major investment banks reflect shifting sentiment after a period of operational performance. Analysts are increasingly weighing currency fluctuations against the company's multi-year digital transformation strategy in assessment, virtual learning, and workforce skills.

Financial Performance and Half-Year Results

The analyst adjustments arrive against the backdrop of Pearson's financial disclosures for the first half of the year. In those results, the company reported an underlying revenue increase of 4%.

Profitability metrics showed stronger acceleration over the same period. Adjusted operating profit rose 14% to GBP 276 million, while adjusted earnings per share reached GBP 0.289.

Market Valuation and Broader Context

Meanwhile, shares of JPMorgan Chase & Co traded at $356.23, up 0.76% as of September 11, 2026, according to Finnhub market data.

For Pearson, the revised forecasts highlight the sensitivity of multinational publishers to currency movements. As global markets fluctuate, foreign exchange pressures can compress reported international revenues even when underlying operational volumes remain stable.
