GEK Terna posted a 22.1% increase in net earnings for the first half of 2026, reaching €83.4 million, as high-margin infrastructure concessions expanded across the group's portfolio.
The profit surge reflects a broader shift toward cash-generating motorway and infrastructure assets, which outpaced traditional construction operations during the period, according to an Investing.com report.
Revenue and Earnings Breakdown
Total group revenues for the first half rose 7.4% year-over-year to €2.1 billion, while adjusted EBITDA climbed 12.2% to €356.3 million. Net earnings attributable to shareholders, excluding non-operating items, translated to earnings per share of €0.83.
The concessions segment served as the primary growth engine, generating €342.6 million in revenues and €225.4 million in adjusted EBITDA. This division delivered a 65.8% margin and accounted for 63% of total group profitability.
Investment-Grade Credit Ratings
Financial performance was accompanied by credit milestones during the period. In May 2026, S&P Global assigned GEK Terna a 'BBB-' rating with a stable outlook, while Moody’s assigned a 'Baa3' rating with a stable outlook.
These investment-grade designations reflect the steady cash flows generated by the company's long-term toll road and infrastructure concessions, reducing reliance on the more cyclical construction sector.
