Supply chain automation platform BackOps has secured a $42 million Series B funding round led by Insight Partners, accelerating its push to replace manual administrative workflows with specialized artificial intelligence agents.
The financing arrives just six months after the company closed a $26 million Series A round, reflecting rapid enterprise adoption of its automated carrier claims and billing resolution software.
"People have become the middleware between the systems and outside parties that keep supply chains moving," said Sean McCarthy, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of BackOps, in a statement regarding the investment.
Participation From Existing Investors
The latest funding round drew continued support from BackOps' existing backers. Theory Ventures, Construct Capital, Gradient Ventures, and 10VC all participated in the Series B expansion.
"Supply chains generate operational complexity every day, and much of that complexity is still managed by people doing manual, time-intensive work across disconnected systems," said Kenta Yaegashi, Vice President at Insight Partners.
The fresh capital will be directed toward scaling the company's engineering and go-to-market teams as demand for supply chain digitization increases across logistics and retail sectors.
Metrics From Recent Enterprise Deployments
Adoption metrics cited in company disclosures highlight significant operational efficiencies achieved by early enterprise customers utilizing the BackOps platform.
- A national parcel platform deployed the company's carrier claims system starting in December 2025, processing over 500,000 claims with a 91% zero-human-involvement resolution rate as monthly volume scaled 150-fold, while the automated resolution rate climbed from 87% at launch to 99%.
- A retailer operating 13 sites used the software to reduce its average billing cycle from approximately 28 hours down to 14 minutes.
- The same retail deployment eliminated the need to hire five planned billing specialists and a supervisor, generating an estimated $660,000 in projected fully loaded annual cost savings.
What Is at Stake for Logistics Operations
Administrative bottlenecks have historically forced logistics operators to scale headcount alongside shipment volumes, absorbing high overhead costs in freight billing reconciliation and damaged-parcel claims processing. By deploying artificial intelligence layers that interface directly with disparate carrier portals and enterprise resource planning systems, platforms like BackOps aim to eliminate the administrative friction that traditionally slows down freight movement and invoice settlement.
