Fusion Antibodies PLC reported audited revenues of £2.1 million for the year ended March 31, 2026, alongside a sharp expansion in gross margins to 58.3% as the biotech firm narrowed its annual operating losses. The results mark a recovery phase for the company following restructuring efforts amid persistent funding headwinds across the life sciences sector.
"FY2026 was another year of important progress for the Company. We had revenue growth, a significant improvement in gross margin and a stronger cash position, despite the continued challenging market environment," said Adrian Kinkaid, CEO of Fusion Antibodies, in a statement regarding the financial figures.
Revenue Growth and Margin Expansion
The audited figures show revenue climbed to £2.1 million, compared to £1.97 million in the prior fiscal year. The most pronounced change occurred in profitability metrics, with the gross margin surging to 58.3% from 22% the previous year, following an amendment from an initial 53% calculation reported in preliminary updates.
Operating losses simultaneously improved, narrowing to £1.13 million from a restated £1.63 million loss recorded in fiscal 2025. This cost containment occurred even as the company increased its overall investments into research and development initiatives.
Cash Position and Fundraising Impact
Balance sheet figures benefited directly from capital market activity earlier in the calendar year. Cash reserves at the end of March 2026 stood at £1.04 million, marking a substantial increase from the £0.36 million reported at the close of the previous fiscal period.
The strengthened liquidity was primarily supported by approximately £1.4 million raised in a share placement completed in January 2026, which provided working capital runway as the company advanced its proprietary antibody engineering platforms.
What Is at Stake for Antibody Discovery
Specialized contract research organizations and antibody discovery platforms face prolonged capital constraints as biotechnology venture funding and early-stage pharma partnering slow down. For smaller London-listed life sciences firms like Fusion Antibodies, demonstrating margin resilience and a funded balance sheet serves as a primary metric for operational viability while broader sector valuations remain under pressure.
