Forvia shares rose over 6% after the company announced a joint venture with India's Anand Group to expand its automotive seating business. The deal increases Forvia's presence in a major car market as part of a regional expansion plan.
Joint Venture Structure and Production Focus
The new entity, Faurecia Anand Seating India Private Limited, will manufacture complete automotive seats and seat frames for carmakers in India, according to an Investing.com report.
Under the agreement, Forvia holds a controlling stake of 50% plus one share. Gabriel India, a company under the Anand Group, holds the remaining 50% less one share.
Historical Partnership and Market Goals
The collaboration continues a manufacturing relationship spanning more than three decades. The two organizations first partnered in 1991 through a business arrangement focused on Clean Mobility solutions in India.
Management has set growth targets for the seating venture. The partnership aims to help Forvia Seating capture 10% of the Indian automotive seating market within five years.
Strategic Context for Forvia
Automotive suppliers are prioritizing localized manufacturing hubs to capture vehicle demand in South Asia and insulate supply chains from trade friction. By securing a controlling stake with a local partner that has decades of domestic operating history, Forvia intends to scale production capacity across Indian vehicle manufacturing centers.
