Advanced Micro Devices received an analyst upgrade as CLSA raised its price target for the semiconductor company's stock to $710 from $575, maintaining an Outperform rating. The upward revision reflects strengthening demand expectations for the upcoming hardware architecture, particularly the MI-455 graphics processing unit.
Analyzing the MI-455 Unit Economics
The upgraded outlook is driven by modeling of hardware deployments and profitability metrics for AMD's next-generation accelerator hardware. According to the CLSA report, the firm estimates that a complete MI-455 GPU rack will carry an average selling price of $5 million.
Within that unit structure, the estimated bill of materials sits at $3 million. Under the projected revenue-sharing and delivery model, AMD will invoice approximately 70% of the total rack average selling price as direct revenue to its top line.
Earnings Projections and Valuation Multiple
Beyond immediate hardware economics, the brokerage revised its multi-year profitability schedule for the chipmaker. CLSA projects that AMD will reach its long-term non-GAAP earnings per share target of $20 a year ahead of prior expectations, specifically in 2027.
For that same year, the firm's non-GAAP EPS estimate is modeled at $20.25. The new $710 price target is anchored on a valuation multiple of 35 times the projected calendar year 2027 non-GAAP price-to-earnings ratio.
What Is at Stake for AI Infrastructure Spend
Analyst revisions of this scale highlight the financial scale of the enterprise artificial intelligence hardware market as cloud providers and large-scale data center operators ramp up infrastructure spending. The valuation framework illustrates how hardware average selling prices and component manufacturing costs directly dictate long-term cash flow generation for semiconductor developers competing against established market leaders like Nvidia.
