BofA Securities downgraded Amrize Ltd (NYSE:AMRZ) to Underperform from Neutral and lowered its price target to $40.00 from $50.00, citing persistent growth headwinds across U.S. cement markets, challenging Canadian macroeconomic conditions, and recent executive turnover following its spin-off.

The adjustment reflects mounting caution from Wall Street analysts regarding medium-term earnings visibility as regional profit drivers encounter pricing pressure and softer local demand.

"We have reduced our 2027-28 EBITDA estimates by approximately 3%, bringing our projections roughly 6% below consensus at the EBITDA level and 10% below at the EPS level," wrote Arnaud Lehmann, analyst at BofA Securities, in a note to clients.

Regional Profit Exposure and Market Headwinds

The downgrade highlights structural pressures across Amrize's core geographic segments. According to BofA Securities research, U.S. cement operations account for roughly 30% of the company's profits, a sector facing potential pricing stability risks after years of strong gains. An additional 30% of profit exposure is tied to Canadian macro conditions and local construction demand, both of which face downside risks.

Compounding these regional pressures, a quieter-than-expected hurricane season has weighed on the company's roofing operations, reducing anticipated storm-related repair and membrane demand. These combined factors contributed to the downward revision in forward earnings expectations well below consensus forecasts.

Management Turnover Post-Spin-Off

The financial headwinds coincide with leadership changes following Amrize's independent corporate spin-off. Former Chief Financial Officer Baris Oran resigned from the post, prompting the appointment of Samuel J. Poletti as his replacement.

What Is at Stake for Investors

The convergence of lower earnings estimates, regional profit pressures, and executive transition highlights the execution risks facing newly independent building materials firms. As analysts reevaluate cash-flow durability across North American cement and roofing assets, valuation multiples face renewed scrutiny in public equity markets.
