BioLineRx and Hemispherian are set to present preclinical and Phase 1/2a trial design data for their first-in-class cancer therapy candidate, GLIX1, at the upcoming 31st Society for Neuro-Oncology Annual Meeting & Education Day. The presentations arrive as the clinical-stage biotech collaboration advances its lead candidate for recurrent or progressive high-grade gliomas.
The annual meeting will take place from November 12 to November 15, 2026, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, according to a PR Newswire release.
Preclinical Efficacy and Trial Design
The two poster presentations are scheduled for Friday, November 13, 2026, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. EST in Exhibit Halls D and E. The first abstract, coded EXTH-31, focuses on preclinical findings across glioblastoma models.
"GLIX1, a TET2 activator targeting DNA damage response: potent anti-tumor activity across multiple glioblastoma models; orthotopic CDX models and a subcutaneous TMZ-resistant PDX model," is the title of the presentation to be delivered by Dr. Adam Robertson, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer at Hemispherian AS.
The second presentation details the clinical progression of the candidate. Coded CTNI-25, the session is titled "Phase 1/2a study of GLIX1, a novel first-in-class oral TET2 activator, for the treatment of recurrent or progressive high-grade glioma." This trial design overview will be presented by Ditte Primdahl, MD, from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
Understanding TET2 Activation in Glioblastoma
GLIX1 is a novel, oral, small molecule designed to act as a TET2 activator. The drug targets the DNA damage response mechanism in glioblastoma and other solid tumors, a pathway critical for cancer cell survival and proliferation.
The ongoing Phase 1/2a clinical trial for GLIX1 was initiated in the first quarter of 2026 under a joint development agreement between BioLineRx Ltd. and Hemispherian AS. High-grade gliomas, including glioblastoma, represent aggressive forms of brain tumors with historically limited treatment options and poor patient survival outcomes, making the development of targeted oral therapies a focus for neuro-oncology researchers.
