Cooper Companies received a rating downgrade from Baird, shifting from Outperform to Neutral as analysts pointed to disappointing fiscal third-quarter sales, inventory challenges, and weaker-than-expected regional performance. Alongside the rating adjustment, the firm slashed its price target from $85.00 down to $61.00.

Third-Quarter Earnings and Revenue Miss

For the fiscal third quarter of 2026, Cooper Companies reported non-GAAP earnings of $1.15 per share, which edged past analyst consensus estimates of $1.12 per share, according to data compiled by Investing.com.

Despite the modest earnings beat, top-line growth fell short of expectations. Total quarterly revenue came in at $1.07 billion, missing the projected $1.1 billion consensus target.

Americas CVI Growth Stalls

The primary driver behind Baird's downgrade was weakness in the company's core operating segments, specifically a contraction in the Americas CVI division. Organic revenue growth for Americas CVI dropped 2% year-over-year, significantly underperforming Baird's internal estimate of positive 6% growth.

Analysts highlighted that ongoing inventory adjustments and soft regional demand created unexpected headwinds that clouded the company's near-term recovery path.

Market Position and Valuation Adjustments

Equity research analysts frequently adjust ratings and valuation models when key operating segments miss regional growth benchmarks by wide margins. The sharp reduction in Baird's price target reflects a recalibration of expected cash flows and growth multiples for Cooper Companies as the medical device and contact lens manufacturer navigates persistent distribution and inventory hurdles.
