ANI Pharmaceuticals highlighted its expanding rare disease portfolio at the Wells Fargo 21st Annual Healthcare Conference, reporting record second-quarter 2026 financial results alongside an expanded commercial footprint. The update follows a recent company guidance revision as management works to scale its specialty therapeutics division.
"ANI is a rapidly growing, profitable biopharmaceutical company focused on rare disease. Our primary focus and strategy is to accelerate our transformation into a leading rare disease company," said Nikhil Lalwani, Chief Executive, ANI Pharmaceuticals, in a statement during the presentation.
Cortrophin Sales and Commercial Expansion
Central to the company's growth strategy is Cortrophin Gel, whose quarterly sales reached $117.1 million in the second quarter of 2026, representing a 43% increase compared to the same period a year earlier. Following these results, ANI Pharmaceuticals revised its full-year 2026 guidance for the product to a range of $520 million to $540 million.
To support this trajectory, the company expanded its commercial sales force by 60%. The sales team increased from 120 representatives to 180, enabling broader targeting of acute gouty arthritis flares across primary care and podiatry markets.
Balance Sheet and Market Performance
Turning to the financial results, ANI Pharmaceuticals reported record second-quarter 2026 revenue of $266 million, accompanied by a record adjusted non-GAAP EBITDA of $71.6 million. The company closed out June 2026 holding $360 million in cash, having generated $100 million in free cash flow during the first half of the year while maintaining a net leverage ratio of approximately 1.0x.
In the public markets, ANI Pharmaceuticals Inc (ANIP) stock traded at $70.19, slipping 1.78% from its previous close of $71.46, according to Finnhub market data.
Strategic Realignment in Specialty Pharma
The ongoing pivot toward rare diseases reflects a pharmaceutical industry trend where mid-sized firms prioritize high-margin specialty products over commoditized generics. By injecting capital from established revenue streams into targeted sales force expansions for products like Cortrophin, ANI is attempting to solidify its position in niche therapeutic segments despite short-term guidance adjustments.
