UBS lowered its price target on Dave & Buster's Entertainment (NASDAQ:PLAY) to $9.00 from $12.00 while maintaining a Neutral rating, following second-quarter fiscal 2026 financial results that missed Wall Street consensus estimates on both top and bottom lines.
The target reduction reflects ongoing headwinds for the entertainment and dining chain, which reported quarterly revenue falling short of expectations alongside an unexpected adjusted per-share loss as management attempts to execute an operational turnaround.
“We are predominantly an occasion-based business with high awareness, but we have not consistently been the obvious answer when a guest is planning one of those occasions,” said CEO Darin Harper in a statement regarding the results. “Our value and execution have not been dependable enough.”
Q2 Financial Results and Estimates Miss
For the second quarter of fiscal 2026, Dave & Buster's reported revenue of $544.1 million. The figure fell short of analyst consensus estimates of $556.83 million.
The company posted an adjusted loss of $0.27 per share, missing expectations for anticipated earnings of $0.19 per share. Profitability metrics also deteriorated compared to the previous year, with adjusted EBITDA dropping to $98.9 million from $129.7 million over the same period.
Sales Declines Across Segments
Underlying operational metrics showed strain across major business segments during the quarter. Entertainment-related sales fell nearly 9% to $332.6 million.
At the same time, same-store sales declined 2.9% in the second quarter. While negative, this metric represented a relative improvement compared to the 5.4% drop recorded in the previous quarter.
Turnaround Challenges and Market Position
The earnings miss highlights difficulties for Dave & Buster's as it attempts to reposition its offerings for occasional dining and arcade consumers. The company operates entertainment complexes combining dining and interactive gaming, a model that relies heavily on discretionary consumer spending.
With UBS adjusting its equity valuation to $9.00 per share and maintaining a Neutral stance, analysts continue to monitor whether management's strategy can stabilize guest traffic and restore dependable execution across its venue footprint.
