Tricor PMT25 Holdings, a shareholder and director at CPI Card Group (NASDAQ: PMTS), increased its stake by purchasing $11.3 million in company stock on September 14, 2026. The acquisition follows a 16.6% decline in the company's share price, as the firm moved to increase its position during a period of market volatility.

According to an investing report, the transaction involved 525,000 shares purchased at $21.50 per share. With this addition, Tricor PMT25 Holdings now directly owns 2,701,056 shares of the payment technology company.

Ownership Structure and Background

Tricor PMT25 Holdings is a subsidiary of Tricor Pacific Capital Inc., a family office that manages investments for Roderick R. Senft and his family members. While the firm maintains a significant ownership stake in CPI Card Group, Mr. Senft has disclaimed beneficial ownership of the shares held by the entity.

Financial Performance Context

This insider transaction occurs as CPI Card Group navigates recent earnings challenges. In its second-quarter 2026 results, the company reported revenue of $149.2 million, a 15% year-over-year increase. Despite this revenue growth, the company’s earnings per share of $0.17 fell short of the $0.53 forecast by analysts, which contributed to the recent downward pressure on the stock price.

For investors and market observers, the purchase by a 10% owner provides insight into how major stakeholders are positioning themselves following a period of earnings-related volatility. Insider buying at this scale is monitored as an indicator of management's view on the company's strategic direction, particularly when the purchase occurs shortly after a significant valuation adjustment.
