Telos Corporation has secured a 12-month contract with the U.S. Department of Commerce Office of Inspector General to deploy its Xacta software-as-a-service platform. The agreement is intended to assist the agency with cybersecurity compliance and risk management processes.

"Federal agencies need a platform that helps security teams sustain compliance and make informed risk decisions, rather than just a tool for producing compliance documents," said John B. Wood, chairman and chief executive officer of Telos.

Platform Capabilities and Authorization

The Xacta platform automates the assessment and authorization processes required by federal information security standards. A key component of its deployment in government environments is its FedRAMP Class D (High) authorization. This designation indicates that the platform meets the federal government security requirements for cloud-based services, allowing it to handle sensitive data across agency systems.

Financial Context

The contract award follows Telos (NASDAQ: TLS) as it markets its software suite within the federal sector. As of October 7, 2026, at 16:31 UTC, shares of Telos were trading at $4.32, a decline of 0.46% for the session.

Why Compliance Platforms Matter

For federal agencies, maintaining continuous compliance is a regulatory requirement under the Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA). Traditional compliance workflows often rely on manual documentation, which can create delays in security audits. Platforms like Xacta replace these manual processes with continuous monitoring. This allows security teams to identify vulnerabilities in real-time instead of waiting for periodic audit cycles. By integrating these tools, agencies like the Department of Commerce aim to reduce the administrative burden on security staff and improve their risk management posture.
