Raymond James upgraded Casey’s General Stores (NASDAQ: CASY) to Outperform from Market Perform and set a price target of $750 following a 14% decline in the stock after its earnings report.
The rating change follows a post-earnings pullback in the convenience store operator's share price, which analysts at the firm viewed as an attractive entry point given the underlying strength of the company's fiscal first-quarter results.
Strong Earnings and Revenue Growth
For the first quarter of fiscal 2027, Casey’s General Stores reported that EBITDA increased 17% year-over-year and 40% on a two-year basis. Diluted earnings per share reached $7.37, beating analyst consensus estimates of $6.68.
Revenue for the quarter climbed 24.3% to $5.68 billion, exceeding forecasts. Over the preceding twelve months, revenue expanded nearly 14%, while the company's price/earnings-to-growth (PEG) ratio stood at 0.9.
Valuation and Market Context
Analyst upgrades based on valuation typically occur when a company's fundamental performance outpaces its share price movement. In Casey's case, the 14% correction created a disconnect between the retailer's earnings expansion and its market valuation.
Meanwhile, shares of Raymond James Financial Inc (NYSE: RJF) traded at $173.46, down 0.04% from its previous close of $173.53, as of September 11, 2026, according to Finnhub market data.
What Is at Stake for Investors
Analyst rating adjustments highlight how short-term market pullbacks can reframe valuation metrics for established retail operators. With earnings and revenue metrics surpassing forecasts despite inflationary pressures, firms like Raymond James evaluate whether post-earnings dips reflect operational deterioration or merely temporary market adjustments.
