iRhythm has finalized its acquisition of VitalConnect for $237.5 million in cash, up to 423,334 shares, and $10 million in working capital, expanding its footprint into mobile cardiac telemetry and multi-vitals monitoring.
The transaction, funded directly from iRhythm's balance sheet alongside customary adjustments, broadens the company's ambulatory and inpatient monitoring capabilities. According to a Fierce Healthcare report, the integration combines iRhythm's established Zio cardiac monitoring service with VitalConnect's multi-parameter biosensor technology.
"Today marks an important milestone as iRhythm continues its evolution toward a broader cardiac monitoring and intelligence platform," said Quentin Blackford, President and Chief Executive Officer of iRhythm, in a statement regarding the deal.
Financial Expectations and Margin Targets
According to Yahoo Finance coverage of the transaction, the acquired operations are expected to enhance iRhythm's revenue growth rate beginning in 2027. Management maintains its target of achieving a 15% adjusted EBITDA margin for the 2027 fiscal year while scaling the combined business.
"By bringing together what our team has built with iRhythm's scale, clinical expertise and customer reach, we believe we can accelerate the growth of our platform, expand access to our technology and create even greater value for clinicians and patients," said Peter Van Haur, Chief Executive Officer of VitalConnect.
Expanded Monitoring Capabilities
The acquired technology platform supports up to 30-day continuous patient monitoring with a four-in-one functionality design. The system provides flexible service models, live look-in capabilities, and the capacity to monitor up to 11 physiological parameters concurrently.
These features extend iRhythm's capabilities beyond traditional ambulatory electrocardiogram (ECG) patches into hospital-to-home care settings. The combined hardware and software suite aims to give clinicians broader visibility into patient vitals during extended outpatient monitoring cycles.
Strategic Implications for Cardiac Care
The transaction highlights a medical device industry trend toward consolidating specialized remote monitoring assets under larger commercial platforms. By integrating VitalConnect's multi-vitals biosensors, iRhythm positions itself to compete directly across mobile cardiac telemetry and inpatient monitoring segments simultaneously.
