Finnair shares climbed 11.6% to €4.65 on October 13, 2026, reaching their highest level since September 23, following the airline's decision to raise its 2026 financial guidance.
The revision in the company's long-term forecast comes as passenger demand continues to support earnings. This performance offsets the pressure of elevated fuel costs that have affected the aviation sector. The airline reported a preliminary comparable operating profit of €84 million for the third quarter, an increase from the €50.7 million reported during the same period in 2025.
Updated Financial Guidance
Finnair has adjusted its expectations for 2026. The airline now anticipates revenue for the year to fall between €3.5 billion and €3.6 billion, an increase from its previous guidance of €3.4 billion to €3.5 billion.
Profitability projections saw an upward revision. The company now expects a comparable operating profit in the range of €175 million to €220 million, higher than its earlier target range of €120 million to €190 million, according to a report by Investing.com.
Market Dynamics and Operational Costs
For investors, the revised guidance highlights how the airline manages its cost structure. While global fuel prices remain a factor for carriers, Finnair’s ability to drive revenue growth in a demanding travel environment has allowed it to widen its operating margins.
The increase in year-over-year quarterly profit reflects the company's core business performance compared to the prior year. By raising both its revenue and profit targets, the airline is positioning itself to capture higher yields despite the challenges of maintaining profitability in a high-cost energy environment.
