Dollarama reported a 17.6% sales increase to surpass $2 billion for the second quarter ended August 2, 2026, driven by higher transaction volumes and strong demand across its store network, prompting an upward revision to its annual outlook.
"At a time when households are making careful spending decisions, customers continued to count on Dollarama for dependable value. Together with the execution of our teams, this contributed to our strong second-quarter performance and supports the increase in our annual Canadian Comparable store sales and net new store opening guidance," said Neil Rossy, President and CEO, in a statement regarding the results.
Financial Metrics and Revenue Growth
According to the earnings release, total sales reached $2,026.6 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2027, compared to $1,723.8 million in the corresponding period of fiscal 2026. Diluted net earnings per common share rose 11.2% to $1.29, up from $1.16 in the prior-year quarter.
Canadian Same-Store Sales Drivers
Growth in the domestic market was propelled by steady consumer traffic. According to Retail Insider, Canadian same-store sales grew by 5.4% during the quarter. This performance was underpinned by a 3.7% increase in total transactions alongside a 1.7% increase in average transaction size, reflecting both higher customer frequency and larger basket values.
Upwardly Revised Fiscal Guidance
Building on the momentum from the first half of the fiscal year, management adjusted its full-year expectations. According to Yahoo Finance, Dollarama raised its full-year fiscal 2027 Canadian same-store sales outlook to a range of 4% to 4.5%. Additionally, the discount retailer increased its net new store-opening target to between 65 and 75 locations as it expands its footprint domestically and internationally.
