Cognyte Software shares surged nearly 9% after the investigative analytics firm reported second-quarter adjusted earnings that topped Wall Street expectations, driven by rising software sales and expanding profit margins.

"Cognyte delivered a strong quarter, with broad global momentum and continued progress across our strategic growth pillars," said Elad Sharon, Chief Executive Officer, in a statement detailing the results.

According to the Investing.com report, Cognyte posted adjusted earnings per share of $0.15, exceeding analyst consensus projections of $0.11 by $0.04. Total revenue for the quarter reached $109.2 million, representing a 12% increase compared to the same period in the prior fiscal year.

Software and Recurring Revenue Expansion

The top-line growth was supported by demand for the company's core analytics platforms. Total software revenue climbed 21% year-over-year to $100.8 million, signaling enterprise and government adoption of its investigative solutions.

Simultaneously, recurring revenue expanded 18% to $56.2 million. This stream now accounts for 51% of total revenue, providing the company with a predictable financial base as it scales its operations.

"The market is moving directly toward what we have built for: mission-critical intelligence in complex, high-stakes environments, powered by trusted AI and sovereign control," Sharon said.

Reaffirmed Fiscal 2027 Outlook

Building on the first-half performance, executive leadership reiterated the company's full-year fiscal 2027 financial guidance. Cognyte projects total revenue of $448 million at the midpoint, maintained within a range of plus or minus 2%.

Additionally, the firm maintained its adjusted EBITDA guidance at approximately $68 million for the full fiscal year. These figures reflect management's expectations that current operational momentum and recurring software contracts will sustain profitability through the remainder of the fiscal period.
