Boeing has secured a four-year labor agreement with its largest white-collar union. This deal ends the threat of a strike while the company works to stabilize production for its 737 Max 10 and 777X aircraft programs.
The contract, ratified by members of the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA), provides immediate wage relief and establishes a framework for compensation adjustments. The agreement covers approximately 13,000 engineers and 4,000 technical workers, who represent a workforce for the company's recovery efforts.
"We secured many victories that some thought were completely out of reach when this negotiation cycle started," said the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace in a statement regarding the deal.
Contract Terms and Voting Results
The approved deal includes a 10% immediate wage increase for covered employees upon ratification. This is followed by 4% annual raises throughout the remaining term of the contract, alongside potential merit-based increases of up to 6%.
Voting results indicated a split in sentiment between the two represented units:
- Professional Unit: Approved the contract with 67.6% of the vote in favor.
- Technical Unit: Approved the contract with 53.5% of the vote in favor.
Impact on Boeing Operations
For Boeing, the ratification provides operational certainty while the aerospace company manages production backlogs. The company has faced delays in delivering the 737 Max 10 and the wide-body 777X, both of which require engineering oversight to meet regulatory and safety benchmarks. By securing the labor force, Boeing avoids work stoppages that could have disrupted the supply chain and delivery timelines.
Market Context
The labor stability arrives as Boeing navigates a financial environment. As of October 7, 2026, Boeing Co. (BA) shares were trading at $187.99. Market observers consider the successful negotiation a necessary step in the company's effort to normalize production rates and restore output capacity across its primary manufacturing facilities.
