Atlassian is positioning artificial intelligence as a structural tailwind by using its proprietary data architecture to drive enterprise adoption. This comes as the company anticipates decelerating subscription growth heading into fiscal 2027.
"Jira is priced at about $7 per user per month," said James Chuong, Chief Financial Officer, Atlassian, describing the rate as value in the enterprise software market during a presentation.
To monetize its software capabilities, Atlassian plans to begin enforcing consumption metering on complex AI services in December. The company will keep simple user queries free of additional charges. This strategy ties into the Teamwork Graph, a proprietary data layer designed to map interactions across an enterprise and maintain demand for its collaboration tools.
Financial Performance and ARR Expansion
The software provider enters this monetization phase following recent financial results. In its fiscal fourth-quarter 2026 earnings report, Atlassian posted $1.8 billion in revenue, a 28% year-over-year increase.
Annual recurring revenue, or ARR, grew 23% during the same period to reach a total of $6.6 billion. Despite these figures, management has guided investors to expect a deceleration in subscription growth rates throughout fiscal 2027 as the core customer base matures.
Expanding Beyond Software Engineering
A driver behind Atlassian's enterprise strategy is its user base outside traditional coding roles. Non-software engineers make up 65% of Jira users, 70% of Confluence users, and over 70% of JSM Service Collection users.
By targeting non-technical workers, Atlassian aims to embed its platform across corporate workforces. The Teamwork Graph connects data from these business units, feeding context into automated workflows and artificial intelligence tools designed to accelerate project delivery.
