ARK Invest continued its portfolio rebalancing on October 12, 2026, by divesting from technology and gaming equities and increasing its exposure to the biotech and mental health sectors.
The firm sold stakes in Personalised Inc. and DraftKings, totaling over $16.1 million in exits, while accumulating shares in companies focused on genomic medicine and psychiatric therapeutics.
Divestments and Sector Shifts
ARK's latest trading activity reflects a pivot away from established tech and consumer gaming names. The firm offloaded 730,303 shares of Personalised Inc. (NASDAQ:PSNL) for approximately $11.7 million and 229,471 shares of DraftKings Inc. (NASDAQ:DKNG) for $4.5 million.
Additionally, the investment manager continued to trim exposure to large-cap social media, selling 4,520 shares of Meta Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ:META) valued at $3.2 million. This move aligns with a period of tactical rotation as the firm consolidates its positions in innovation-focused industries.
Expanding Biotech and Mental Health Positions
The firm increased its holdings in the life sciences space, specifically targeting mental health and genomic diagnostics. The purchases included:
- 284,019 shares of Compass Pathways PLC (NASDAQ:CMPS) for $3.4 million.
- 101,154 shares of Alamar Biosciences Inc. (NASDAQ:ALMR) for $2.6 million.
- 136,894 shares of Freenome, Inc. (NASDAQ:FRNM).
- 43,887 shares of CRISPR Therapeutics AG (NASDAQ:CRSP).
- 12,720 shares of Guardant Health, Inc. (NASDAQ:GH).
Understanding Portfolio Rebalancing
Institutional portfolio rebalancing is the process of realigning the weightings of a set of assets. By selling mature holdings in tech and gaming, ARK is shifting its capital allocation toward sectors it views as having higher long-term growth potential.
For companies like Compass Pathways, which focuses on psilocybin-based therapies, this entry represents a bet on the field of psychedelic-assisted mental health treatments. Similarly, the additions of CRISPR Therapeutics and Guardant Health reinforce the firm's focus on the intersection of healthcare and advanced technology, which remains a core thesis for ARK's investment strategy as it navigates market volatility.
