Zoom is moving away from its legacy meeting-centric model to become an AI-first enterprise platform. The company aims to monetize conversational context while balancing a 5% revenue growth rate with a 40.7% non-GAAP operating margin target.
Management states that the company’s access to live, human-to-human interactions provides a data advantage that traditional enterprise systems of record often miss. By capturing this data, Zoom intends to transition from a single-product service to a workplace platform.
"The differential for Zoom in terms of an AI era and why we win is the shift to platform because there’s so much that happens in human-to-human conversation that just gets lost. It never sits in a system of record," the company's CFO said at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference 2026.
AI Monetization and Revenue Strategy
Zoom is using a two-tiered monetization strategy. Core AI features, such as automated meeting summaries, are bundled into existing subscriptions to maintain user engagement. Specialized premium tools, including its sales-focused AI and the "ZoomMate" assistant, are sold as separate products tied to measurable return-on-investment metrics for enterprise clients.
The company is also seeing traction in its employee experience segment. Workvivo, the internal communications and engagement platform, has surpassed $100 million in annual recurring revenue. Additionally, the company introduced "Cyr," an AI-powered product designed to generate employee insights, diversifying its portfolio beyond video conferencing.
Financial Outlook and Margin Targets
Zoom's financial guidance for fiscal 2027 includes a non-GAAP operating margin target of 40.7%. Management notes that further margin expansion depends on achieving a stronger revenue growth inflection beyond the current 5% rate.
This strategy changes how the company approaches its market position. The 40.7% margin reflects a focus on operational efficiency, and the company acknowledges that sustaining growth requires scaling its new AI-driven product suite to capture a greater share of enterprise software spending.
