Waters Corporation reported a 9% organic growth rate in the second quarter of 2024 and a book-to-bill ratio exceeding 1.0. The company performance is driven by the integration of its BD Life Sciences and Diagnostics acquisition, which accelerated cost-saving targets.

"We've been growing high single digits, about 8-ish percent for that timeframe, and the drivers are somehow consistent," said Udit Batra, Chief Executive Officer of Waters, during the Wells Fargo Healthcare Conference.

Synergy Realization and Financial Performance

The integration of the BD Life Sciences and Diagnostics business contributed to the company recent financial expansion. Waters confirmed the realization of $200 million in run-rate cost synergies, reaching this milestone ahead of its original projected timeline. This integration impacted the firm's top-line metrics, with Waters reporting 52.5% revenue growth over the twelve months ending in Q2 2026.

Assessing Future Guidance

Management addressed market concerns regarding fourth-quarter guidance, suggesting that current projections may be conservative. CEO Udit Batra noted that the company current guidance implies a 13% step-up in revenue from the third quarter. By comparison, historical seasonal step-ups for the company have typically landed in the high teens.

"Qualitatively" there is no reason for the base business to slow down, Batra said, pointing to the disparity between current guidance and historical performance patterns as evidence of the firm's underlying stability.

What This Means for Market Position

The company book-to-bill ratio, which currently sits above 1.0, serves as a key indicator of future revenue health. It suggests that new orders are continuing to outpace the rate at which the company fulfills current demand. As Waters moves into the latter half of the fiscal year, the focus remains on maintaining base business consistency and leveraging the scaled infrastructure provided by the BD acquisition. The ability to outperform historical seasonal expectations remains a point of interest for analysts monitoring the firm's capacity to translate integration synergies into sustained organic expansion.
